Shelter Insurance began their story in 1946 as MFA Mutual Insurance Company then changing their name to Shelter Insurance in 1981. in Columbia, MO. Although MFA/Shelter Insurance has been around nearly 70 years the fountain, a Columbia landmark will celebrate it's 50th anniversary with a newly renovated fountain. The fountain has been special to a lot of people in and around Columbia, MO while serving as a backdrop for family pictures, engagements and a place to visit during the holidays when they place a large Christmas tree in the fountain with lights.
I didn't care about finishing in a record time but once we started we had to finish and I gotta say that ol' Aunt Judy hung in there and did it! It's a proud moment as this was her very first 5k!
(This would just count as a "bonus" 5k and not count towards my 15 in 2015)
For the 50th Anniversary of the Fountain they had one heck of a party!
Shelly DeVore this one's for you!
(I know how you love clowns)
Yep, I'm a proud nekked baby!

In Columbia, MO nothing is ever official with the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and a ribbon cutting! Nancy Allison is our current Chamber Ambassador chair (she also has her own Shelter Agency) would kick off this ribbon cutting to power up the fountain!
The new fountain is beautiful!
