Run to Salute Gold Star Families Virtual 5k

May 25, 2015 ~ Today I would run my very first "virtual 5k". I heard about virtual 5k's from my friend, Jacki Swank and thought they are a brilliant idea! How many times do you want to participate in a 5k to find out that you already have plans that day? Well the nice thing with virtual 5k's is that they give you a window of time to complete it and if that time frame doesn't work for you then you can complete it when it's good for you.

After searching several different sites that offer the virtual 5k's I found this medal and loved what it stands for. I purchased it because Gold Star Families are the families of service men & women who died while serving in combat operations. It is a simple design similar to the pin given the family of the fallen hero to honor those that gave their last full measure of devotion in service to our country.A portion of the profits from this run will benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

I decided today was the perfect day to complete this virtual 5k and thank you Full Medal Runs for offering this race. On this Memorial Day we honor all military men and women who died while fighting for our freedom during war therefore today (and always) we salute all of our Gold Star Families.... We will not forget!
