Walt Disney World 2015 - Hollywood Studios

December 10, 2015 ~ Today our adventure would be Disney's Hollywood Studios and my 2nd favorite Disney park! While Greg, Ashley and Jaxon got a glimpse of this park the other night they would really get to check out all that it had to offer and I was excited! (Yes we managed to get everyone in matching t-shirts for today's adventure... A plan I wasn't really sure that would work!)

So we started out with breakfast at the Pepper Grill... Loved the Mickey Mouse waffles with chocolate sauce and strawberries (this picture was before the chocolate sauce and strawberries)!
During breakfast we were talking about where we were going today and what our FastPasses were as well as what we were doing for lunch. Jaxon was so excited when he learned that we wouldn't be going home anytime soon!
Our little Goofy was excited for the bus to get there to pick us up!

As soon as we got in the park there wasn't really a line for Chip and Dale.....
Chip and Dale loved Jaxon! (Jaxon got an autograph book and today he was going to try and get it filled!)

Pluto was there too!
Pluto was so cute! I think Jaxon had fun too!

Our first ride of the day was the Aerosmith Rockin' Roller Coaster!
Granny and Jaxon waited outside for us... I knew this one was too much for those two to handle... heck it was almost to much for Aunt Shell!

A Backstage Pass for You

Rock and roll in the dark on your way to an Aerosmith concert, passing legendary landmarks along the way.  Tour the famed music studios of G-Force Records, where legendary rockers Aerosmith are wrapping up a recording session. When the band’s manager informs the group that they’re late for a concert on the other side of town, the rock band invites you to come along.
Upside Down In the Fast Lane
Hop inside a gleaming, super-stretch limo and hold on tight as you take off at a whopping 60 miles per hour into the Los Angeles night—hard-rockin’ grooves of Aerosmith echoing all around you.
Careen up and down into the inky, nighttime city darkness. Rocket through the famous Hollywood sign and speed past illuminated landmarks. Maneuver through city traffic and swoop in and around 3 thrilling inversions—2 rollover loops and one corkscrew—as the wind races across your face.
Will you make it to the concert of the year in time?

V.I.P. Vehicle and Soundtrack

A state-of-the-art sound system and a special soundtrack keep this ride jamming in the fast lane. Your ride to the Aerosmith concert is a super-stretch limo that comes decked out with a 125-speaker, 24 sub-woofer, 32,000 watt audio system. Each limo broadcasts different Aerosmith songs, so don’t be surprised if your experience is a little different if you go to the concert more than once.
Aerosmith songs may include:
  • “Walk This Way”
  • “Dude (Looks Like a Lady)”
  • “Sweet Emotion”
  • “Back in the Saddle”
Additionally, the classic tune “Love in an Elevator” has been rewritten to “Love in a Roller Coaster” specifically for this attraction.

Aunt Shell was scared to death... I mean look at that face! Ha!

Next up was the Hollywood Tower of Terror!
Granny, Aunt Shell and Jaxon waited outside for this one... I have done this one before and wasn't about to ride it ever again... it's too scary for me!

The Mystery of the Hollywood Tower Hotel

On a stormy Halloween night in 1939, five unlucky souls disappeared from the Hollywood Tower Hotel’s doomed elevator. Classic stars of the silver screen sought rest and relaxation at the Hollywood Tower Hotel during the Golden Age of Hollywood. In 1939, during a gloomy Halloween night, 5 unfortunate hotel patrons were riding in the elevator when a violent storm struck the building… and they were never seen again. Whatever became of them and wherever they may have gone has remained a mystery to this day. The hotel closed down that night and has remained abandoned ever since. The Present Day
You’re invited to take a tour of the Hollywood Tower Hotel—and an unforgettable ride—on a stormy night very similar to the evening when the unexplained event occurred. Be welcomed by Rod Serling as you journey to the 5th Dimension.

Drop into The Twilight Zone

Hold on tight for a thrilling ride into the Twilight Zone.

A Grand Re-Opening
Tour the infamous Hollywood Tower Hotel, the onetime haunt of Tinseltown’s rich and famous until a mysterious incident forced it to close in 1939. Amble under the iron-wrought gates of the abandoned abode and wind your way through a neglected, weed-filled garden before stepping inside a dusty lobby, seemingly frozen in time.
Edge into a dark library with strange artifacts. As lightning illuminates the darkened room, a nearby television set springs to life and Rod Serling welcomes you on a journey into the Twilight Zone.
From a secret passage, trudge into the shadowy confines of the dilapidated boiler room, home to rattling machinery and your vessel into the 5th dimension: the service "elevator". Enter the rickety lift and strap yourself in, light bulbs spookily flickering on and off above you.
Going Up?
Launch upward in darkness until the corroded doors unlock to expose a lengthy hallway inhabited by the otherworldly hotel inhabitants from 1939. Beckoning for you to join them, the spooky specters dematerialize and your skyward journey continues.
The 5th Dimension
At the 13th floor, a collection of sights and sounds inspired by the opening credits of The Twilight Zone come into view. Journey through this star-filled realm and prepare to discover what lies beyond the darkest corner of imagination.
Going Down!
Shriek in terror as you hurl down the abandoned shaft then unexpectedly changes direction and launches back up the hotel. Gaze out through a missing wall 13 stories high as the doors inexplicably open and close to reveal the hotel grounds. As if possessed by some unseen phantom, you plummet down and speed upward over and over again, the sound of cables snapping and metal clanging overhead. Will you make it back to the real world… or will you become a permanent resident of the Twilight Zone?

Are you ready?
Those crazy kids... Brandon, Ashley and Greg are sitting in the front row on the right side of the screen! Awesome video that we received from the Disney Photo Pass! (This ride isn't something a small child should ride... just sayin'!)

Ashley is cracking me up!

While we were waiting we checked out a few little shops close by, grabbed a few pictures and did some pin trading!

Finally our little thrill seekers were all done with the ride!
(This is a ride that stays super busy so it's best to knock it out first)
Yep you guessed it... more pictures!

A quick trip to see Mickey!

Jaxon was really excited to meet Buzz Lightyear and Woody!
Well of course Aunt Shell couldn't miss out on getting a picture with them too!

Uncle B and Ashley was watching their video from Hollywood Tower of Terror....
Of course Jaxon feels the need to see it too!

Jaxon wanted a snack and a Mickey pretzel would do the trick!

Next up we would check out Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!
(I think Jaxon will love this!)

Indy Drops Into Danger

Against the backdrop of temple ruins, Indiana Jones makes a grand entrance and the show swings into non-stop action. In pursuit of the golden idol, Indy and his companion Marion battle dangerous bad guys, leap from tall buildings and make other daring escapes as fake bullets fly and a moving vehicle bursts into flames. The edge-of-your-seat suspense comes to a climax in an explosive finale!

The first part of the show was pretty cool!

The explosions were awesome!

This was pretty cool and I think everyone enjoyed it!
Time for a little fun in the Toy Story Midway Mania!

Oh yea... Aunt Shell beat Greg! Ha!

That Mike and Sulley...
You have to watch those photo bombers! Ha!

Time for some lunch!

An Authentically Vintage Atmosphere

It’s a blast from the past when you walk into this all-American eatery themed like Mom’s kitchen. Bring your appetite and your sense of humor, because Mom and the extended family aren’t above giving you lessons in table etiquette—and doling out punishment to misbehaving boys and girls.
Mind Your Manners!
Pull a vinyl chair up to the Formica table and tuck into hearty home cooking like Mom’s old-fashioned pot roast, Aunt Liz’s golden fried chicken and so much more. Just make sure you wash your hands, put your napkin in your lap and keep your elbows off the table, unless you want a stern talking-to from Uncle Fred.

A True TV Dinner

For a special treat, you’re allowed to watch TV at the dinner table today! Sit down at a “TV Table” and enjoy black-and-white television clips from popular prime-time shows circa 1955. After dinner, be sure to browse the dessert menu—among Mom’s sweet treats are a traditional warm apple crisp and ‘50s pineapple upside-down cake! Dad’s Dazzling Drinks
Kids of all ages will light up over specialty drinks in souvenir cups featuring Dad’s Electric Ice Cubes or a glowing Disney character light. Big kids 21 years of age and older can “cool it” with Dad’s classic cocktails.
For even more Selections from Dad’s Liquor Cabinet for the over-21 crowd, bop into the Tune-In Lounge next door, where you can watch retro TV with your cocktail. You can also order from the full ‘50s Prime Time CafĂ© menu. Unreal!

This was a really cool place and so fun to step back in time! (Highly recommend reservations BEFORE you get to Walt Disney World as this was a popular place!)

Wedge Salad with Blue Cheese... Yep that's mine!
Stuffed porkchop! (It was good)
Little sampling of meatloaf, roast and fried chicken! (Now that was really good!)

Oh and just so you know... they don't like it when you leave food on your plate...
Here comes the food airplane!

1,2,3,4... Gotta eat a little more....
5,6,7,8... better in your mouth than on the plate!
(Momma didn't care for those green beans!)

Desert time!
All fun and games until he didn't want the ice cream he ordered because he wanted what Aunt Shell and Granny had! Seriously dude...
Aunt Shell traded him and now everyone is happy again!

Jaxon loves Jake the Pirate!

Picture time!
Time to check out the Lights, Motors, Action Extreme Stunt Show!

Revving Up for Fun

Hear the howl of engines and smell tires tearing up the asphalt as stunt cars burst onto the scene. These uniquely designed autos perform high-speed chases packed with precise, split-second spins and misses—just like in the movies! Feel the heat from fiery explosions and catch your breath as stunt men fall from 5-story buildings. All stunts are played back on a massive video screen to reveal how action-packed chase scenes are made through the magic of film editing, camera angles and other amazing tricks of the trade.
Lightning McQueen and… Friends?
Watch for a special appearance from the Disney•Pixar film Cars of beloved “hero car” Lightning McQueen as Mater warns him of an enemy spy tracking him on the set. The ensuing chase will put you in a tailspin!

It was a pretty neat show but will be closing soon due to the addition of the Star Wars stuff.

Jaxon wanted to get his face painted again today and afterall he's been pretty good....
We welcome you to our little lion/tiger!

Time to introduce Jaxon to Muppet Vision 3D!

On the Backlot with the Muppets

Join Kermit, Miss Piggy and the entire Muppets gang for a spectacular presentation in 3D. Step right up into an expansive soundstage area filled with kooky movie-making props—and enter the wild and crazy world of the Muppets! On monitors overhead, watch a madcap 12-minute pre-show video starring Gonzo, Rizzo the Rat, Scooter and many more of your Muppet friends as they frantically prepare for the big show.
After receiving 3D glasses, saunter into a lushly appointed 584-seat theater—designed to look like the Muppet Theater from the classic television series, The Muppet Show—and take a seat before the lights dim.
Meet the Muppets – In 3D!
The curtain rises to reveal Kermit, Miss Piggy and the entire Muppets troupe onscreen in startling 3D, as they invite you on a zany tour of Muppet Labs for a demonstration of their newest, high-tech film process, Muppet*Vision 3D. Things quickly get out of hand, though, during a presentation with Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker, and the result is a seemingly endless string of disastrous—yet hysterical—comic events.
With hilarious musical numbers, surprising in-theater effects plus the world’s first computer-generated Muppet, Waldo C. Graphic, this three-dimensional spectacular puts you in the center of all the zany Muppets antics. It’s a show every member of your family is sure to love!
A Menagerie of Muppets
Muppets you’re sure to encounter during the show include:
  • Kermit the Frog
  • Miss Piggy
  • Fozzie Bear
  • The Great Gonzo
  • Scooter
  • Sam Eagle
  • Swedish Chef
  • Waldorf and Statler
  • Sweetums
  • Dr. Bunsen Honeydew
  • Beaker
  • Bean Bunny
In-House Effects
In addition to the 3D film, the show includes Audio-Animatronics characters and 4D special effects that literally bring the house down around you. And don’t be surprised if child-friendly pranks, like light splashes of water, further immerse you in the Muppets’ wacky world.

That was fun!

Isn't he cute!

Jaxon really wanted to see Mike and Sulley!

My favorite part of this park....
The Osborn Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights!

How It All Began

This stunning spectacle started modestly in Arkansas as a single home's annual display. Every year, Jennings Osborne and his family set up an elaborate collection of holiday lights. Over time, the collection of lights grew and grew... and grew! In 1995, the Osborne family decided to share their magic with the world. Walt Disney World Resort happily offered to become the new permanent home for this exceptional exhibition of holiday cheer.

Celebrate 20 Years of Illumination!

Glide through the Streets of America and soak in the radiant beauty of this beloved tradition for its final holiday hurrah.
This display is so magical! Nothing can put you in the Christmas spirit like standing in the street waiting for one switch to be flipped (by Santa Goofy) and 5 million lights come on all around you with snow coming down from the roofs! Truly amazing to see in person and I'm going to miss this!
Only Walt Disney World can make this much magic happen at once!

The Spry's!
Love!

Here's one song that the lights dance to!
(Pictures and videos just don't do this place justice... it's beautiful!)
Hollywood Studios...
You were a blast! Thanks for the memories!

Not too bad for another great day in Disney World!
