Walt Disney World 2015 - Epcot!

December 9, 2015 ~ Today we would spend the day at Epcot! This would be my 3rd favorite park (out of the 4 Disney parks) and my goal was to work up to the best! I still love this theme park because of the various cultures that are wrapped around this park in the back section known as World Showcase as well as Future World in the front of the park!

Since Jaxon was pretty much asleep when we arrived to our rooms last night he didn't really see what all Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and friends left us. Boy was he excited to check it out this morning! I think he liked his special surprise! Isn't he a mess!?!?

The Adams' Family was ready for this adventure....
So is Uncle B and Granny!
(Although Jaxon was still a little sleepy this wild bunch was excited!)

We would walk around this lake to get to breakfast!
What beautiful scenery!
These 3 amigos would greet us!
We would eat breakfast most mornings at the Pepper Market!
Jaxon loved riding the bus... he's growing up so fast!

Jaxon wanted to know what was inside that big golf ball!

Our first ride of the day would be Universe of Energy!
This attraction is approximately 50 minutes long... about 10 minutes is a video then 40 minutes is a tour aboard a traveling theater car.

The 'Adventure' begins with Ellen falling asleep while watching Jeopardy. She finds herself in a nightmare where she's pitted against her college rival "Smart Judy", played by Jamie Lee Curtis. All of the Jeopardy categories are energy-related, something Ellen knows little about.
Her neighbor just happens to be Bill Nye the Science Guy. He takes Ellen under his wing and they embark on a trip back to prehistoric times. At this point, the 600-seat theatre rotates and breaks up into 6 enormous "cars" that accompany Ellen and Bill as they travel in pursuit of the origin of energy.
Amazing Audio-animatronic dinosaurs are part of Ellen's adventure. This part of the ride is just about the same as it was since '82. Still, with the addition of the Ellen story-line, it's a lot more enjoyable.
This is a real sensory experience. The dark lighting sets the stage. You hear the roars of the dinosaurs and there's a distinct odor in the air. It's best described as 'slightly damp basement.' You hear Ellen and Bill Nye as you travel along and Ellen pops up from time to time.
(Not the real Ellen, the animatronic version of her.)
With Ellen's new found knowledge of energy, she returns to play Final Jeopardy against "Smart Judy."

It was interesting learning about energy but this ride makes you tired! Ha!

Street performance by some construction guys!

This is one of my favorite rides at Epcot!

One Fun Ride

Buckle up in a 6-passenger “simulation car” and put a virtual vehicle that you created to the test. Stroll into a gleaming, state-of-the-art facility and cruise past eye-opening exhibits illustrating the forward-thinking innovation and technology of Chevrolet. Steer your way inside the Chevrolet Design Center and—working at an illuminated station—design your own virtual custom concept vehicle based on the following test criteria:
  • Capability (handling)
  • Responsiveness (maneuverability)
  • Efficiency (fuel-saving and environmentally friendly)
  • Power (speed)
Add some finishing touches to your design before boarding a special “SIM Car” and taking off on a fun-filled driving evaluation.

The Test Drive
Discover how your custom concept vehicle performs thanks to easy-to-read visual charts as you rev through rough terrain and obstacles along the winding Test Track circuit. Fly through straight-away, maneuver switchbacks through inclement weather, hug curves banked at 50-degree angles and scale hills that are up to 3-stories high!
At almost a mile long, with peak speeds of 65 mph, Test Track Presented by Chevrolet is a thrilling ride you’ll want to experience again and again!

While we were waiting in line Jaxon got to create his own race car/truck. He picked everything from the look, paint, wheels and engine and was pretty proud of this truck!

What a fun ride! Jaxon thought it was pretty cool and Granny screamed! Ha!
As we were walking out they had a showroom of Chevy vehicles... Jaxon found a Chevy Colorado pick up truck that he loved! He told his daddy to climb in and this is the picture I got! Goof balls!

Family picture time!

Next up we rode Mission: SPACE!
(While I am smiling I certainly don't care for simulators)

Rocket to the Red Planet

Fulfill your fantasy of being an astronaut as you dodge meteors, navigate nebulae and slingshot around the moon. Before you board, actor Gary Sinise briefs you as you prepare for your mission to Mars on the X-2 Deep Space Shuttle at the International Space Training Center (ISTC). Each member of your 4-cadet crew will assume an important role: navigator, pilot, commander or engineer. During your flight, each cadet will be instructed to initiate a mission-critical sequence, so be prepared! Board your vessel, lower your harness and brace yourself for the incredible force of lift-off. Get goose bumps as you arc around the moon and then hold on tight as you attempt a precarious precision landing on the Red Planet’s alien surface.

We had lunch reservations at the Garden Grill which was a unique dining with characters!

Farm-Fresh Food with a Vision

Enjoy an ever-changing array of sights, and tastes too, as you slowly turn about this rotating restaurant.  At The Garden Grill, Guests of all ages are invited to imbibe visuals from Living with the Land—such scenes as a rain-forest, farmhouse, thunderstorm, sandstorm and prairie—while indulging in an all-you-care-to-enjoy, family-style meal. The vegetables and salads come from their own garden here at Epcot!

Jaxon and Dale!
Dale taught Jaxon a new trick... He pointed to Jaxon's chest (as if to say "What's on your shirt?" and when Jaxon looked down Dale got his nose. Jaxon thought this was hilarious and would do this to us throughout the trip!

Jaxon and Chip!
(To tell them apart... Chip has a nose like a chocolate chip)

Jaxon and Farmer Mickey Mouse!
(At 4 years old he is almost as tall as Mickey!)

Dale was up to his tricks again and got poor Mickey with the trick he taught Jaxon earlier!
Aunt Shell loves Mickey Mouse!
Jaxon giving Mickey a quick fist-bump!

Dale came back around for one last hug... he was something else!

We thought we would let our food settle a bit and take a boat ride on "Living with the Land"

See the Future of Food Production

Gain a newfound appreciation for where your food comes from on this cruise through the living laboratories of Epcot. Many of your favorite foodstuffs—chocolate, coffee, vanilla, tomatoes and rice, to name a few—grow on trees, vines and now even in soil-less environments. See firsthand how Disney’s horticulturalists are using innovative growing techniques and cross-breeding high-yield crops with the goal of sustaining our growing global population.

It was really interesting (and cool) to see how they can grow food items with no soil. I would have liked to take the "Behind the Seeds" tour for a little more information on all of this!

Can You Find Nemo?

The ever-elusive clownfish is missing again, but is he really lost or just playfully hiding? Help Marlin and Dory find him! Board a “clamobile” and descend below the waves into a “Big Blue World” where Nemo and his friends flit through brightly colored coral reefs and gently swaying sea anemones. Swim with Mr. Ray and his school and see ultra-cool, ultraviolet “jellies.” Dodge underwater mines, a toothy angler fish and an even toothier Bruce the shark as he lurks in the rusted hull of a sunken ship. Then catch a ride on the righteous EAC (East Australian Current) with sea turtle Crush and his little dude Squirt, and watch it barrel over you. Awesome!

After the ride we got to check out their aquarium!

You guessed it... Picture time again!

Next up they talked us into riding on Soarin'!
You ride on a simulator that makes you believe you are really soaring in the sky. Momma, Jaxon and I weren't crazy about this ride at all! Next time I'll wait for them outside!

An Exhilarating and Epic Adventure

Experience the Golden State like never before while "hang-gliding” over landscapes as varied as they are beautiful. Feel like you're flying—and even smell what you're seeing as you skim rolling waves, powdery ski slopes, majestic redwood forests, fragrant orange groves and familiar landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge.

Live the California Dream
In the grand Disney tradition, Imagineers pulled out all the stops to make fantasy reality, bringing California to life using a 180-degree IMAX projection dome and aerially captured footage that reproduces the flight path of a hang-glider. Thrill as you're lifted 40 feet in the air, engulfed in the stunning panoramas, swept from one scenic locale to the next!

Time to visit Mickey, Minnie, Goofy
Minnie was so cute!

Goofy was... well gosh, just Goofy! Ha!

Mickey was awesome! (Love that mouse!)

Now it was time to visit the World Showcase which features 11 countries: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, the United States, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom and Canada.
Pretty cool looking teapot!

As we were making our way around to the American Adventure the boys stopped to watch some Japan performers. Jaxon really didn't know what to think of all of this!

Guess he told Santa he wanted a DVD player....
Aunt Shell had to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus too!
(I mean you can't go around the world without stopping to say howdy!)

They said there was a Gingerbread House display and I wanted to find it! I'm so glad I went looking (and even asked a few people where it was) because it was our Nation's Capital and the Washington Monument... Beautifully done!

120 lbs of Gingerbread
25 lbs Royal Icing
15 lbs Modeling Choco
1000 Starlight Mints
4 Hidden Mickey's
and a lot of Pixie Dust!

Jaxon was good all day and really wanted to get his face painted....
so we let him!

They were getting ready for tonight's big show.
(Sadly we wouldn't be able to stay up until 9:30 PM when the show started but they say it's one heck of a fireworks show!)

Loved all the little added touches that Disney puts into their parks to make them so special!

You guessed it... photo time again!

We had time for one last ride and Jaxon wanted to take one last spin on the Disney's Test Track ride!

I gotta say the "big golf ball" as Jaxon calls it was really pretty tonight!

(Like y'all didn't see more pictures coming .....
I mean with an awesome background how could you pass it up?)

Because little boys who are tired of pictures just wants to be silly! Ha!

What a day! This is why we are going to bed early tonight... we earned it!
