Pies for the Gelnar Family

November 22, 2010: As many of you know by now, I love baking! I use Grandma Ruby's recipes and I have done pretty darn good at figuring out the way she used to do things (I created a couple of cookbooks but it was hard to get true measurements since she would just add a little of this and a little of that). I had the pleasure of helping with a Thanksgiving dinner for a wonderful gal I worked with at Columbia Ortho Group. Kelley is on bed rest with her second child, a little girl. Shortly after she found out she was having a little girl her water broke and things were really scary. She has been able to hang on and we are praying for a healthy little bundle of joy in 2011. The cherry and pumpkin pie are my contribution! Happy Thanksgiving Gelnar Family!

Don Laird.... Our Chamber of Commerce President!

I love our Columbia Chamber of Commerce! All of the staff are wonderful, down to earth and fun! Want me to prove it? Well just watch this little video of our very own Don Laird, President on this fancy powered cooler. You can be sure there wasn't any wasted trips to find something to drink during today's staff chili cook off! Go Tigers!

Wonder Woman!

This is my good friend Heather Stewart! She is always doing nice things for me and I wanted to return the favor and do something nice for her. She LOVES Wonder Woman and I wanted to come up with a couple of things that she doesn't have so I was able to find a really cool Wonder Woman barbie doll and a Wonder Woman book that has all sorts of really cool stuff in it. She loved it! Thanks DJ for being a great friend!

Carrie Underwood Concert

On October 16, 2010 my sister, our mom and I all headed to Kansas City, MO to see Carrie Underwood in concert! This was my favorite part of the whole concert when she came out on this blue truck! As it went around on the very back it said CARRIE. She put on a great concert and sang more of her fast upbeat songs where I really like some of her slower songs. It was a lot of fun and we stayed at the Q Hotel who took us to the Sprint Center so we didn't have to drive in the crazy traffic.

Another great win helping a great cause!

Yesterday (Tuesday October 12th) my 2010 Leadership Columbia Alumni class met for our monthly luncheon. We always have a great time visiting with each other since we have all graduated and sometimes we have up to 15 people show and sometimes 10 based on everyone's busy scheudle. Yesterday we met at Shiloh's downtown because they were having a "Free the Cougar" event which is created to raise money for a scholarship for someone right here in Boone County. We all purchased raffle tickets and yep you guessed it.... yours truly won a $50 Bleu Resturant Gift Certificate and a VIP Tasting and Tour for 10 people to Les Bourgeois Winery! It truly was a great day with great people for a great cause!
This is our group that showed up yesterday!

A little time with the girls...

On October 8, 2010 a few of us girls decided we needed to have a little get together so Lindsay Young-Lopez opened her beautiful home to Shelly Devore, Barb King and I (Sarah Dubbert couldn't make it). As most of you know I don't drink so she was kind enough to make me some pink lemonade! We all brought a little something to snack on and just visited. It was wonderful and we all had the best time just being in each other's company! What a great evening with great friends!

It's A Boy!

On October 6, 2010 my mom, dad and I got to go to the ultrasound with my sister, Ashley, and her husband, Greg, to find out the sex of their little bambino! I was pretty sure it was a girl until the ultrasound tech said it's a boy! My mom and dad had never seen an ultrasound and was amazed at the technology. Greg was happy but he was grinning from ear to ear when he was told he was going to have a son! The ultrasound lady wouldn't let me video part of the baby and there was a perfect moment I wish I had gotten.... Tater Tot (the baby) was getting his head measured and his little left hand was messing with his left ear! It was just so neat to see this on the ultrasound monitor to see what he's doing while he's camped out for the next 4 months! Everyone is so happy and can't wait to see him! Congratulations Ash and Greg and thank you for letting us be a part of this day!  Love, Aunt Shell :)
